Our team Philosophy
We start with the premise that whatever it says on someone’s business card, in the office everybody has a voice and is encouraged to contribute, question and challenge. We do not employ yes-people.
Ever since our first day of trading, everyone in our team has enjoyed a comprehensive benefits package and is involved financially in the long-term success of the business. Everyone has a clearly defined career path against which they can measure their progress and that in many cases involves progression outside of the area they currently operate within.
We home grow our talent. When we need to bolster our human resource, we prefer to recruit smart, commonsense oriented second jobbers and place them on an apprenticeship where their aspiration and talent is their only limit.
It is our obligation to respect the individuality of our team members and allow them considerable room in which to work and grow. Ours is not a culture of command and control, it is one of freedom within bounds and standards.
Everyone has an off day or week and so we believe in quarterly performance appraisals to highlight areas of strength, weakness and difficulty. We want our people to stay and, like any long lasting relationship, this requires understanding and adjustment from both sides. Perhaps a test for any business is whether the most junior staff member feels comfortable raising a heart felt opinion to any of our senior staff. We strive to continue passing this test.
